New bill seeks to ban gluten-free restaurants and restaurants with gluten-containing foods

A new bill seeking to ban restaurants that sell gluten-based foods has passed the Senate and is headed to the House.

The bill would require restaurants that serve gluten-filled foods to post signs that say “gluten-free.”

The Senate version of the bill was approved by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee Thursday and the House version is expected to be passed in the coming days.

It will go to President Donald Trump for his signature.

In a statement to Fox News, the American Gluten-Free Association said it supports the legislation.

“The proposed law does not go far enough and we applaud the Senate for its bipartisan approach,” the group said.

“As the president said on the campaign trail, Americans have the right to know that their food is safe and that their choices are protected from gluten.”

The American Glazers Association has not yet weighed in on the legislation but said in a statement it supports “the bipartisan effort to ensure that our gluten-infused products are safe, and that the public is safe from gluten-related illnesses and food poisoning.”

The group said the bill would ensure consumers can continue to rely on food made with the gluten-Free, Gluten Free and Gluten Allergy Free designation.

“Americans need to know where their food comes from, what ingredients they’re choosing, and how safe their food can be,” the association said.

The association added that it “encourages Americans to have a safe and secure choice of foods, especially gluten-intolerant foods.”

Gluten-containing foodstuffs include breads, cookies, crackers, cookies and biscuits, soups, baked goods, pasta, cakes, desserts and bread.

It also includes cereal, cracker and muffins, potato chips, tortillas, noodles, pizza, pizza sauce, pasta sauces, baked potato products and snack foods.
