Hoboken restaurants will have to be open late, according to the city of Hoboken.
Hoboken City Council unanimously approved an ordinance Monday that will mandate late-night hours for restaurants that are open on weekends and holidays.
The city says late-afternoon hours will be allowed for restaurants with a minimum of five tables and five seats.
The ordinance requires the city to establish rules for restaurants and bars that are late-opening on weekends.
Hoboken has long struggled to enforce the ordinance.
The City Council’s Public Safety Committee last year voted 4-2 to approve the ordinance, which will take effect in February 2019.
