Restaurants in Denver that serve hot dogs, tacos, burritos and more are among the best restaurants in the nation, according to a survey of more than 20,000 restaurants and other establishments.
More than half of the respondents said the restaurants were on a consistent level of excellence, with fewer than a quarter saying they were average or below average.
The survey by the market research firm The Brand Group was conducted in the last week of April for the Denver Post.
It included a survey by TripAdvisor of 1,600 Denver restaurants and bars, the Denver Business Journal reported.
The Brand group surveyed nearly 1,400 restaurant owners and chefs, along with local and national news outlets and restaurants.
Restaurants that scored high in the survey included Burger King in Colorado Springs and KFC in Denver.
Restaurers that scored low included Chili’s in Fort Collins, Pizza Hut in Fort Worth, and Taco Bell in Denver and Fort Collins.
A large majority of respondents said they would recommend a restaurant in Denver to someone, with half saying they would be willing to spend $20 or more.
A few respondents said it would cost more than $20.
The brand groups surveyed a mix of foodies, foodies who don’t drink, foodie bloggers and diners who said they eat out on a regular basis.
About 20 percent of respondents who were eating out weekly said they were satisfied with their experiences, with 20 percent saying they found the food they ordered to be good, while about 9 percent said it was not as good.
Restaurations that scored higher on the Brand group’s surveys had higher scores on their customer reviews.
“You don’t really need to do the research to figure out which restaurants are really great,” said Mark Siegel, co-founder of TripAdviser.
“It’s just a matter of whether the restaurant meets the bar, meets the standards of the food, and has the service, quality, and flavor,” he said.
“There are so many restaurants out there that are so high on that list that it’s really hard to say.”
Restaurants with low reviews are often found in a crowded market with a lot of competition, according Siegel.
Restaurant reviews are also an indication of whether a restaurant is getting good reviews.
The quality of a restaurant’s reviews is often one of the more important factors in deciding whether to stay or go.
A restaurant that does well in TripAdvisors surveys may also be able to get more customers, and it may not necessarily mean the restaurant will be a good fit for a large number of people.
Restaurateurs who get low ratings from the Brand groups have more choices for their food and drinks, which helps their bottom line.
